Wilten Construction is proud to announce the award of Cardigan Phase 2, following the successful completion of Phase 1 for Home Bargains. This next phase marks a continuation of our strong relationship with T.J. Morris, with Cardigan Phase 2 now becoming our fourth project together — a relationship built on trust, consistent performance, and quality delivery.
We are pleased to be working in collaboration with WPL Consulting as Architect and Fairhurst Group as Engineer on this new 32‑week programme.
Delivering a 20,580 Sqft ALDI Food Store
Phase 2 will see the construction of a 20,580 sqft ALDI retail unit, delivered on a greenfield site close to existing retail and commercial premises. The scope of works includes:
New shopfronts
External door openings
Customer car parking
A dedicated service yard
Associated drainage works
Designed as a contemporary food store, the building features a mono‑pitch roof form and materials selected to reflect the surrounding local vernacular. High‑quality landscaping and tree planting form an integral part of the proposal, helping to create an attractive, accessible and welcoming setting for customers.
Inside, the ALDI store has been designed with wide aisles, a clear layout, and the capacity to support sustainable travel modes, complemented by sufficient parking to make access convenient for shoppers.
This development forms part of ALDI’s wider expansion programme and will enhance the retail offer within the local area.
Sustainability Embedded Throughout
Sustainability and delivering community benefits are at the heart of this scheme, with a range of economic, environmental, and social measures being embedded throughout the design and construction process. Community involvement will include engagement with local schools and colleges to support future careers in construction and showcase the new retail unit for the local residents.
Environmental Benefits
Carbon‑efficient cladding to improve thermal performance and reduce operational energy use
Sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) that enhance water quality and reduce environmental impact

Strengthening a Trusted Partnership

Morris, demonstrating the confidence they place in Wilten to deliver projects aligned with their brand and high standards.
