Ground-Breaking Ceremony Bilton Road Basingstoke

Updated: Nov 29, 2023

Wilten Construction were delighted to host Legal & General, Spring BC, JLL and the Mayor and Mayoress of Basingstoke and Deane to our most recent Ground-Breaking Ceremony last week.

Wilten Construction were appointed as Main Contractor by Legal & General for the Refurbishment Design & Build at Bilton Road Basingstoke, to provide a BREEAM Very Good modern warehouse split into multiple units.

The project involves a 32 week programme to deliver 70,000 sqft of warehouse units.

The project started with the deconstruction of existing single storey offices and strip out of existing terraced warehouses back to steel frame and cladding rails, including removal of non-notifiable asbestos. These works are complete, and we are making great progress with the groundworks and installation of the attenuation tanks.

The units will be reclad and refurbished to form 4 modern warehouse / industrial units complete with two storey offices, welfare, car parking, and landscaping. The development will include PV panels and EV charging points.

The development is being delivered in collaboration with Spring Building Consultancy, Goodrich Consulting, Cornish Architects and Simpson TWS.

Nicholas Yates, Director Spring Building Consultancy said;

"It is great to be engaging with the local community and Breaking-Ground on the next phase of work at Kingsland Business Park".

Justin Watts, Construction Director at Wilten, said:

"Last week I attended the fantastic Ground-Breaking ceremony at Bilton Road, Basingstoke. It was great to get together with the team and the Mayor and Mayoress of Basingstoke and Deane to mark the beginning of this exciting project. We are proud to be working with valued client, Legal and General, and are thrilled to be delivering this project in partnership with them. We are looking forward to building a long lasting relationship with the team".

Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, said;

"It’s great to see old buildings being renovated into modern units for use. Reusing what we can for the future saves landfill and recycling units. Although recycling is great reusing is better. Great job!"

We are really excited to share more updates with you over the coming months!
