Wilten Secures New Project Award: Plot 2A, Hartington Business Park

Wilten Construction is delighted to announce the award of Plot 2A at Hartington Business Park, a significant new Design and Build scheme that will further strengthen the region’s industrial offering and support long-term economic growth. This latest award represents repeat business with our client, following the successful delivery of the first plot in 2023.

The scheme, being delivered in collaboration with Devonshire Property, forms part of the continued evolution of Hartington Business Park in Staveley, near Chesterfield — a key site within the East Midlands Investment Zone (EMIZ), benefiting from targeted support for green industries and advanced manufacturing.

Working in partnership with the highly experienced professional team, including Bentley Project Management, Frank Shaw Associates, and Rodgers Leask, Plot 2A will be delivered in a 32-week programme, with completion set for Q4 2026.

Delivering High-Quality Industrial Space for the Future

The Plot 2A development will provide 65,287 sqft of modern industrial accommodation across three BREEAM Very Good‑rated buildings, thoughtfully subdivided into eleven multi‑use units. Designed to support the long‑term growth of the business park, the scheme will benefit local communities, businesses, employees, and future occupiers.

A new access road from Fallow Road will serve the units, with dedicated parking directly outside each space. Unit 4 is enhanced with its own secure, segregated yard and parking area, offering additional operational flexibility.

The buildings are constructed using traditional steel portal frames with profiled metal cladding, featuring 10% non‑fragile rooflights to maximise natural light throughout. The architectural approach blends horizontal and vertical cladding to create a clean, contemporary industrial aesthetic.

Each unit includes:

  • Insulated sectional overhead doors

  • Aluminium windows and entrance doors

  • Steel escape doors

  • Aluminium rainwater goods

  • Dedicated bin stores and cycle shelters

The entire site will be enclosed by a 2.4m high welded mesh perimeter fence, ensuring security without compromising visibility.

A Commitment to Sustainable Construction

Supporting strong economic, social, and environmental outcomes is central to Wilten’s delivery approach. This project integrates a range of sustainability‑focused measures, including:

Economic & Social Value

  • Supporting local employment and skills development

  • Engaging with local students through partnering with Chesterfield Borough Council and the Construction Skills Hub

  • Using nearby amenities to reinvest economically into the community

  • Helping create long-term opportunities for those living and working around the estate

  • Gift in kind donations for local Chesterfield community groups

Environmental Responsibility

  • Reducing carbon emissions through renewable and low‑carbon technologies

  • Implementing sustainable site practices aimed at reducing fuel use, energy consumption, material waste, and overall carbon footprint

  • Delivering to BREEAM Very Good standards as part of Devonshire Property’s wider sustainability objectives

This environmentally forward approach aligns with EMIZ’s focus on green innovation and advanced manufacturing, reinforcing the area as a hub for sustainable industrial development.

Moving Forward Together

The Plot 2A award marks another key milestone in Wilten’s growing portfolio of high‑quality I&L and Commercial projects. We look forward to working collaboratively with Devonshire Property and the wider project team to deliver a scheme that supports the continued transformation of Hartington Business Park and brings lasting benefit to the region.

Stay tuned for progress updates as we bring this exciting new development to life.
